About Us
Black As Chalk was formed in Göttingen/Germany by Tim (drums), Julian (vocals, guitars), Fabian (bass) and Bartek (piano, organs) in January 2007. All of the members had previously gained experience in various formations and styles, which BAC combine to achieve their unique style, usually described as Indie-Rock.
In mid-2008 BAC recorded their self-titled debut which includes subtle songs with a wide range of dynamics, from fragile to powerful, from light-footed to rough. While working on the record the band put strong emphasis on a natural sound, a vivid and sometimes rough production and sonic transparency.
In May 2010 BAC published their second Longplayer named »Halations« which follows that same guideline. But this time even take it one step further: The most remarkable alteration is the addition of new instruments such as organ and accordion. Accordingly, the songs of the new record are less elegiac but straight and both catchy and deep. They combine fidgety disco beats with a slightly distorted voice and organ sounds from outer space.
